Peter Hall Machon, 44, died of natural causes at his home on Wednesday August 17, 2022.
Born in Cape Cod Hospital, Peter spent his youth on the beaches of Cape Cod doing what he loved most: surfing, swimming, fishing and sailing with his friends and family. He was a benevolent soul with a big heart and always ready to help others, the rare altruist.
Peter received a bachelor’s degree in anthropology from Syracuse University, where he was a member of the men’s team. His love for the ocean then took him to Massachusetts Maritime Academy where he was part of the sailing team and earned a BS in Marine Engineering. He then traveled the world as a marine engineer.
Peter will forever be remembered for his infectious smile and love for scuba diving, playing guitar, listening to Van Halen, NASCAR and his determination to ride his motorcycle from Boston to Cape Cod in the middle of winter. Never far from the ocean, he resided in Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts and Florida.
He is survived by his parents, Allen and Debbie (Dornback) Machon, his brother David and his wife, Kristen (Chipman) Machon, his sister Janet (Machon) and her husband Matthew Lampkin, as well as his nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
We love you Peter. We will all miss your playful sense of humor and the joy you brought to our lives.
May you rest in peace and inspire us to love and care for others as you have so sincerely done throughout your life.
Private services will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in memory of Peter Hall Machon to Syracuse University, 640 Skytop Road, 2nd Floor, Syracuse, NY 13244.
