Engraved by William Hogarth 1723Basing his work on a map prepared in 1701 by Verner von Rosenfeldt, Hogarth prepared this engraving for Aubrey de la Motraye's Travels through Europe, Asia , and into Part of Africa ..... especially on Italy, Turky, Greece, Crim and Noghaian Tartaries, Circassia, Sweeden, and Lapland.. Hogarth engraved some of the plates as early as 1721; at least a dozen, or over a quarter of the total illustrations.
