Sunrise off the ferry from Aberdeen to Lerwick Below: the Island of Bressay "The small settlement of Brough lies to the north of the road to Noss and after the last house and to its east are the ruins of the broch from which it takes its name, and a well-preserved burnt mound." From Walking the Coastline of Shetland No 7, by Peter Guy. In order to get to Brough, without sound personal transport across Bressay Sound, it is necessary to board the ferry. This is a well-regulated process. Speeding is discouraged. Once on Bressay, parking restrictions are rigorous and very specific: see below. Below: Brough, pronounced Broch, Bressay I will arise and go now, for always night and day W.B.Yeats all-round view from the garden but 'n ben annexe © Charles Harrison Wallace 2004 |
