Its dimensions were given as 28 x 36, attributed to "Studio of Willem van de Velde, the Younger". Its provenance was given as: The Marquess of Sligo; Christie's, 20 May 1955, lot 29, sold as P.Monamy; followed by Anonymous owner; Christie's, 27 October 1961, lot 103, sold as P.Monamy.
